“I’m always making a comeback but nobody ever tells me where I’ve been.” – Billie Holiday
So just like an addict falling back into the old familiar pattern, unable to resist the lure of a fix. We return to podcasting. And as has been our want of late, we launched straight into it.
Starting with…..
My Movie debut - I’ve made a little movie of my HDD swap-out of my MacBook. A shiny new 320GB unit to replace my Apple supplied 120GB. Not a bad effort if I say so myself, check it out on the site. Next up an SSD into an iMac G4, will it fit? Then on to…
Lion - The new OS from Apple is here, and we’re both up and running on it. This wasn’t a through and detailed review, if you want that you need to go to Ars Technica and read the huge and painstaking review there. All hail Siracusa. Ours was more a discussion of the experiences we had installing and getting to grips with 10.7. Safe in the knowledge, that no matter how bad it could be, it’s not windows. Then an easy segue into…
iOS - As a natural progression from Lion, iOS5 was next, and all the goodies promised with that. Over tha air upgrades, cutting the cord from the computer. iCloud and all the benefits that will bestow. And most importantly of all the iPhone5, or 4S, or 4GS or whatever the hell it’ll be called, just release it already!
New hardware - No discussion of Apple’s news would be complete without touching on the new hardware. Just to express our desire to own it all of course. Gareth wants a Mini server for all his media needs. I want an Air to replace my capacious but ageing MacBook. We can dream can’t we. There was plenty more besides ending with…
iPlayer International - The part of the show where I tease Gareth about the impending, but not quite imminent, arrival of the BBC iPlayer in the US. There was good and bad news this week, the BBC has launched overseas. Unfortunately it was just the North Sea, not the Atlantic. It’ll be there soon Gareth, honestly.
Killing Pixels very own Dorian Bryan walks us through a hard drive upgrade on a late 2008 Apple MacBook.
