More grumbling about Netnewswire began this weeks show. But several solutions are being tried out, and any suggestions are gratefully received. Gruml looks an interesting candidate, we’ll let you know how it goes. Simplenote was Gareth’s iPhone app of the week. We are complying with FTC rules, no undisclosed freebies here, unfortunately.

Anyway onto the stories…

UK iPhone competition at last – Orange and Vodafone are set to join O2 in offering the iPhone. Real competition, cheaper plans. Who knows maybe even cheaper iPhones. Bloody typical, and I’m stuck in a plan with over a year to run.

Blackberry Desktop Manager for the Mac – RIM have released Mac sync software for their smartphones. Finally. It’ll do contacts, pictures, notes and music. Yes that’s right, your iTunes library will sync seamlessly, and Apple won’t try to break it. That’s because RIM are doing it the right way, using their own software, and Apple published API’s, to access the iTunes library XML file. Somebody pass this on to Palm.

Over two billion served – Apps that is, iPhone Apps. In 18 months Apple have gone from nothing to two billion. No wonder everyone is opening an App store. Even Windows Mobile has opened an App store, with a whole 34 apps. I wonder when they’ll reach two billion.

Steve Jobs climbs the Forbes rich list – He must make that dollar a year from Apple work really hard, or he’s got a bitching second job. But as impressive as 5.1 billion dollars sounds, Bill Gates lost $7,000,000,000 in the crunch and he’s still got ten times as much. Life is so unfair.

Police sell seized goods on eBay – All the stuff that criminals bought with their ill-gotten gains, can be confiscated and sold, thanks to the Proceeds Of Crime Act. Leicestershire Police have decided to use eBay as their retail channel of choice. And they will get 100% positive feedback, or you might just fall down some stairs while in custody.

Google AdSense leaks Apple’s refreshed hardware – Faster, thinner and sexier, the new Macs are outed by Google AdSense in Holland. The ads go to dead links on the Apple Dutch website, but we now know they’re on the way. How did the leak happen, come on, its from the country of legalized drugs.
